So, I have finally hit the 40 pound mark. I can't believe how much weight I have lost! . Life has been crazy with working on the house! We have been stripping away all the paint and redoing the wood work ( blog post to follow soon!). This month I started to add more fish to my diet. I have always been a little shy with fish, I never ate it as a kid and as an adult haven't enjoyed it as much. We got some cod and I loved it! Now dinner nights have had lots of lean chicken and fish instead of pork chops, and I think its helping.
Look at old photos I can't believe how far I have come. I feel like a different person. 5 months ago I thought losing weight would never happen and that I would be forever over weight. I would spend days on the couch, the house was a mess and everything was a challenge. Today I wake up and get stuff done. I want to get stuff done and push myself every day.
I bought a goal bikini for the summer. I am hoping that if I keep on this path I can use it this summer. I have never been able to wear a bikini and feel good about it ever. My big goals coming up are to quit smoking and just keep getting in shape. I couldn't do this with out all the amazing support of my loved ones. I know that even when the scale doesn't drop the way I want it too that it will if I keep pushing myself. I take the dogs on a walk every day, make healthy dinners, and work out. Life is fun and exciting for the first time in a long time.
The house has lots of work that I am getting done piece by piece, things a year ago I wouldn't have done. If you are reading this and think you can't do it, you can. I remember wishing weight loss would happen over night but now 3 months later, It feels like its been over night. Set small goals and try to get them done, don't over extend yourself or starve yourself. I am trying to switch some eating around so I am eating bigger meals during the day and smaller at night. Track your calories, measure your loss, and remember that with a positive attitude you can accomplish anything.

I haven't been as hard on myself about going over on calories, I would say my average right now is about 1400. I would like to get this number down and I am working on getting more motivated to get back on track. I have looked at these few weeks "off" as a nice break before I get back into my fitness mode. I also am doing the 30 day squat challenge so I will post how that goes next month. I still am tracking everything I eat, trying to push myself to work out every day if not 5 days a week, and eating clean.
Spring happened and we had a week of friends coming over so my beer limit got tapped out really quickly, but I have now set a firm 4 drink a week limit. I have had some people ask me about drinking and weight loss, and you just need to find what works for you. For me drinking makes me bloat, I get hangovers from about 4 beers and I eat like a pig the next day. Going out with friends is fun my trick is to order soda water and then have one cocktail if I really feel like it. However on things like my friends birthday, if I want to have a few cocktails and go dancing thats ok. Its all about finding a balance, I never had balance before and its a learning curve but if I have a night out I know not to beat myself up, just keep on my path.
Recently I started to feel really warn down, I couldn't wake up or focus and felt like napping all day. My doctor ran some tests and told me to take some vitamin D, and it is amazing. I urge you to go get some vitamin D if you are trying to get your weight down! I am pale ( burn freckle peel, tanning never really happens for me) so I don't leave the house with out SPF. However getting vitamin D when you are pale is pretty hard. Since I have been on the vitamin D I have had more energy, my skin looks better, and I feel great! So glad my doctor caught this!
My clothes are finally at a point where they don't fit, I have been selling them off on eBay and setting aside money for my clothes when I hit my weight goal. In the mean time I got some pants I didn't think would fit for months and they fit great! My body is changing, people are noticing which is always nice. I know I need to stay motivated to hit my weight goal but I know I can do it, and so can you!
